Such a phenomenon points to a terror of the inner life, of the sublime, of the poetic, of the non-material, of the contemplative.'" That "terror" is probably in all of us in one way or another. It seems that people go about their daily lives without contemplating what impact they have on the world. So many of us fear the introspective look because of trauma's suffered that are like the proverbial "monster under the bed". Be careful not to awaken that monster. Your world may be in danger! On the other hand, you may discover things about yourself that you would never have known if you didn't take that monster out and learn what makes it a monster.

I am a budding writer. I want to be a writer. I don’t know what to write about. I know a lot of things but am I a Jack of all trades and master of none? The first half of my life I traveled all over the world as a military dependent learning about other cultures and tasting new food and drinks. I survived addictions and heartache beyond what many people experience. Managing businesses has been my career but I have never had a high paying position. I obtained an education and even received a degree with honors but I never knew what to do when I finished. Now I am about to embark upon a writing career and I don’t know what to write about or for whom I would write. I consider myself to be well versed in many subjects and to have a relatively good command of the English language. Poetry comes easily to me and I have been complimented on my writing many times. Does any of that make me a writer?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05716012087270600183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1120117321989768574.post-54100179014652884232012-12-14T18:04:58.694-08:002012-12-14T18:04:58.694-08:00I have always wanted to write a story about the dr...I have always wanted to write a story about the dreams I have every night. gary merensteinGary Merensteinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09030335232423594646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1120117321989768574.post-77688302257706890902012-12-02T11:42:45.575-08:002012-12-02T11:42:45.575-08:00I recently was engaged in a conversation about wha...I recently was engaged in a conversation about what makes writing "great" and wish I had this blog post on hand to throw into the mix. For I strongly feel that it is an exploration--a surrendering to, even--of the inner, the mysterious, the unknown that opens the door to knowledge, to growth, to wisdom.

Of all the writers whose work I consider "great," the ability to transcend the boundaries of the inner and the outer and reveal an aspect of the human condition that was once hidden is what makes them relevant.

Thank you for the wonderful post!Jennifer Gritthttp://pursuit.jennifergritt.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1120117321989768574.post-2150894441931207132012-11-12T08:14:24.088-08:002012-11-12T08:14:24.088-08:00Hi Amelia, I don't mind at all.
